Global agribusiness and food company Bunge Limited has announced that its operating arm in Asia, Bunge Asia has acquired SSI Logistics, the move giving the company a fifty percent stake in Baria Serece, the owner and operator of Vietnam’s Phu My port.
The port, located on the Thi
Vai River which is approximately 70 km from Vietnam’s capital, and near a large number of commercial feed mill operations, serves as a vital commodity entry point to the country as it is the only commercial dry bulk port in Vietnam capable of receiving large Panamax-class vessels.

Developers of a 6,000 acre multi-modal logistics park in Dallas, Texas, The Allen Group, announced today that they have secured a $20 million dollar bridge loan for the recapitalization of 1,031 acres within the Dallas Logistics Hub.
According to a statement made by The Allen Group, the company has received assistance from commercial real estate capital intermediary, Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P. to acquire a 36-month, adjustable-rate loan with the American Bank of Texas.

Japanese container shipping line, Mitsui OSK Line and California’s CleanAir Logix Incorporated have announced the successful test of a liquefied natural gas fuelled, shore power supply system on the container ship MOL Enterprise.
The test was conducted at
the Port of Los Angeles using a CleanAir Logix system that saw a Liquid Natural Gas (LNG)fuelled generator supply power through a cable to the bow thruster motor of the MOL Enterprise, with, according to Mitsui OSK Line, only two of the MOL Enterprise four heavy fuel oil onboard generators running during the test.

Dutch transportation conglomerate, TNT Group has moved to address concerns as to the company’s financial position, with a press release stating that despite pressure relating to the worsening conditions, the company remains on a solid financial footing.
Stating that
amongst the severe global volatility in financial markets and the recessionary trend in the economy in Europe, the company has witnessed a decrease in express air freight volumes of around ten percent. And while road freight volumes for the company have grown, the levels remain well below that of levels experienced in 2007.

The Ford Motor Company in Brazil has announced a decision to award to Dutch logistics firm, CEVA Logistics, a contract to handle the movement of parts in the production processes for Ford’s Engine and Transmission factory, in Taubaté, São Paulo State.
The new agreement between Ford and CEVA will see the continuation of a well established and long lasting partnership between the two companies, with CEVA providing logistics services to Ford, for the past twelve years.

The United States Department of Transportation has released a final ruling with regard to Advanced Train Braking Technology, the rule requiring Electronically Controlled Pneumatic brake systems that fully comply with existing industry standards and that certain railroad operating rules and training programs be modified to ensure workers have the knowledge and skills required to properly utilize the systems.

Controlled Pneumatic (ECP) brake systems are an advancement in train braking technology with the system enabling operators of the technology to have better train control, lower the risk of derailment, and allow trains to safely travel longer distances between required brake tests.

Navistar International Corporation, the holding company that produces commercial trucks under the International brand have announced an expansion of its line of diesel electric hybrid trucks.
The company unveiled an additional hybrid truck configuration this week, the International DuraStar Hybrid tractor targets general freight haulers and food/beverage distributors with a truck that can provide dramatic fuel savings from 20-25 percent on a standard in-city pickup and delivery applications.

Dutch based worldwide logistics company, CEVA Logistics has announced that automotive giant, Bavarian Motor Works,(BMW) has chosen the company to operate a Regional Distribution Centre(RDC) for BMW in the Polish special economic zone town of Slubice.
Commencing this month, the 15,000 square metre RDC will handle the receipt and warehousing of incoming goods and quality control for automobile spares. With the RDC in close proximity to the border with Germany, CEVA Logistics will be in a position to deliver tailor-made supply chain solutions, for the German car maker.

C.R. England, the Salt Lake City headquartered refrigerated trucking company has moved to outfit its entire fleet of more than 3,500 trucks with Computer Vision Enabled Safety Technologies provided by vision systems company, Mobileye.
The camera-based safety features to be installed on each truck will include a lane departure warning (LDW) system, a forward collision warning (FCW)
system, and a headway monitoring and warning (HMW) system, via the driving assistance product AWS-4000. The company moving to outfit the fleet after both C.R.. England and Mobileye participated in a joint 90-day pilot test program.
