New Independent Asia Service from Mitsui OSK Lines
Japanese shipping conglomerate Mitsui OSK Lines has announced that the company will commence an
independent container freight service from Asia to the east coast of South America, starting from January 26 next year.
Mitsui OSK Lines intends to dissolve a current service run in partnership with Pacific International Line and instead install larger and faster ships on the Asia, east coast of South America route. The intent being to provide stable cargo capacity and higher schedule integrity to meet customer demand in this growing market.
The company will utilize eleven, ships on the route, five of which will have a 3,000 twenty foot equivalent unit (TEU) capacity while the remaining six being the larger ships with a 4,200 TEU capacity.
Ports visited by the new fixed day weekly service will include Kobe, Yokohama Nagoya, Pusan, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong and Singapore, in Asia. While the South American ports to be visited are listed as, Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Paranagua, Sao Francisco do Sul, Santos and Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, the ports of Cape Town and Port Elizabeth will also see inclusion in the service.
According to the company, Mitsui OSK Lines operates one of the largest and most diverse networks of liner and logistics services around the globe, with weekly Transpacific, Transatlantic, Americas and Asia-Europe services.
