New Osaka Kansai Gateway Opens for TNT

TNT, the express freight and mail company headquartered in the Netherlands, has announced the opening of a new gateway for the company, at Japan’s Osaka Kansai International Airport. 

The new gateway is set to reduce transit times for deliveries from China and Vietnam by a full twenty-four hours, with the additional benefit of a one-stop express delivery service between China and Osaka.  The Japanese city being one of the regions most important manufacturing hubs.TNT Express

Additional benefits for customers in the wake of the new gateway’s opening will be the that consignments that Shanghai and other Chinese coastal cities,  will now be able to be delivered directly to Osaka Kansai.  A time saving that according to TNT will particularly benefit the company’s customers in the electronics and apparel-textile industries, where time critical deliveries remain as one of the most important products offered by TNT.

TNT’s Marie-Christine Lombard, the company’s Managing Director of the Express Division, told of her eagerness for the gateway to being to benefiting the company’s customers in the region.  “I am really excited about the opening of the TNT International Gateway in Kansai,” said Lombard “as it will boost our service capabilities to our customers especially those in the electronics and apparel/ textile industries.”  Ms Lombard went on to say that “by shortening transit times to Kansai by one day, TNT will be best placed to support them in minimizing their time-to-market process. This is definitely a new growth sector for both TNT in China and Japan.”

According to TNT, the operations in Kansai International Airport will place TNT in a good position to facilitate the growing trade and business flows between China and Japan.  According to figures released by the Japanese Finance Ministry, for the year 2007, two-way trade between China and Japan has risen ten percent, to a sizeable US$214 billion dollars.
