Cargojet Hungry for More Space at Hamilton International Airport

Hamilton based Canadian cargo airline, Cargojet, have announced that with the introduction of new and larger freighter aircraft into its fleet, the airline will undertake an expansion of hangar and maintenance facilities at its base at Hamilton International Airport.Cargojet 757-200F

Cargojet in press release indicated that construction has already begun at the site with new hangar space to measure 65,000 feet as well as 12,000 square feet of space dedicated to office and parts storage and 75,000 square feet of apron area.

The expansion, according to Cargojet is required as the cargo airline brings new and larger aircraft into its fleet.  Indeed, the first Boeing 757-200F and 767-200ERF freighter aircraft for Cargojet aircraft arrived at Hamilton International Airport recently and will be accommodated by the expansion.

Commenting on the expansion, Cargojet’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Ajay Virmani said that the company was very excited with the expansion of facilities, and that the new facilities would "provide our new aircraft with a proper maintenance base create additional employment opportunities" and is yet another milestone in Cargojet’s continued growth as Canada’s Cargo Airline."

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton International Airport, Richard Koroscil also welcomed Cargojet’s expansion. "Cargojet has been a key partner in Hamilton International Airport" said Koroscil, "This investment by Cargojet shows we are just scratching the surface of the opportunity in this
market for local and international cargo."
