Menlo & Kettle Serve Up Fresh Agreement
Global logistics provider Menlo Worldwide logistics has announced a new agreement with Kettle Foods Incorporated to provide the Oregon based snack food company with additional logistics management.
The subsidiary of Con-Way Incorporated, Menlo, is set to manage for Kettle a new 105,000 square foot dedicated warehouse in Beloit, Wisconsin. This new agreement coming on top of an existing warehouse management deal that saw Menlo manage Kettle’s warehousing in a multi-client facility in Illinois.
The Wisconsin warehouse, encompassing a fifty percent increase in size, will be Menlo’s first logistics operation in the state of Wisconsin, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Gary Kowalsk remarking that Menlo had begun a relationship with Kettle Foods last year in Illinois, however "due to Kettle Foods’ rapid growth and success in the marketplace, a larger, dedicated facility became necessary and locating it near the company’s manufacturing facility allowed them to realize savings in fuel costs." Menlo, he added is now able to serve Kettle’s unique business needs at their Wisconsin warehouse.
The director of Operations of Kettle Foods, Janell Fehlen said that by "choosing Menlo, we’ve been able to take advantage of the flexibility they offer in both multi-client and dedicated warehouse management." Fehlen added that "As our business grew and circumstances changed, our relationship with Menlo has reflected those changes."
Menlo will undertake numerous roles at the Wisconsin facility for Kettle Foods, providing staff, systems and equipment for the new facility, where activities include receiving, storage, inventory management as well as outbound distribution.
