CEVA Works in Brazil To Provide Unique Multi-Cargo Service
Worldwide logistics and freight transport services provider, CEVA
Logistics, announced this week that the company would be launching a commodities transportation project in Brazil, aimed at providing transportation services to the bulk cargo and bulk freight sectors.
Having developed a partnership with BR-S Brasil Sistema Logístico, the Dutch based CEVA Logistics will become the sole provider of Multimodal and Multicargo Containers (MMC) in the Brazilian market, with the aim of providing better and more effective transportation of products such as steel, grains and solid bulks, as well as other products.
The Logistics Operations Director of CEVA, Ricardo Melchiori, commenting on the project said that "In the commodities sector there is huge demand for transportation, with large shippers transporting their products independently. CEVA’s proposal is to reconcile complementary cargo flows and identify synergies that generate gains for all involved."
CEVA will manage the container information and logistic flow from the point of origin to the containers final destination. The containers, developed by BR-S, utilize an anti-adherent material which make cleaning of the containers much easier and therefore allow for quicker loading and unloading of containers.
The Project Manager of BR-S, Victor Gola, speaking to that company’s contribution to the partnership said that “we know how much the logistics sectors values agility, and that is why we worked on the project." Gola also indicated that the partnership will be geared towards efficiency, pointing out that the partnership will not need a tremendous amount of containers as "the MMC cleaning process is extremely fast, and therefore turnover will also be accelerated."
The service will initially be offered only in Brazil, but CEVA has indicated that it may be expanded to other Southern Common Market countries in the future.
