FedEx to Deliver Expats Timely Say

The cargo airline subsidiary of global transportation conglomerate FedEx Corporation, FedEx Express has entered into an initiative that is set to provide American citizens living abroad, with express delivery of their absentee ballots come November’s elections.

With approximately six-million US Citizen expatriates around the world, 5737.previewthe Overseas Vote Foundation has sought, through its "Express Your Vote" initiative, the ability for expatriates to participate in elections back home.  The initiative providing online shipping, track and trace capabilities, as well as proactive proof of delivery through the Overseas Vote Foundation Web site.

By partnering with the Express Your Vote effort, FedEx Express will enable Americans abroad in 89 countries throughout the world, to access express delivery of their absentee ballots between September 15 and October 29 of the 2008 election year.  Cooperation that is seen as significant as statistics from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s “2006 Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act Report”, show that the third most common reason for ballots being rejected and not counted was because the ballots were returned to local election offices after the deadline.

The Chief Executive Officer of the non-profit Overseas Vote Foundation Susan Dzieduszycka-Suinat, welcomed the participation of FedEx Express, saying that "This initiative will bring tremendous value to overseas and military voters who need access to the unrivaled network and services of FedEx Express."

Overseas Vote FoundationIn addition to providing express delivery of absentee ballots for November elections, FedEx have also assisted the Overseas Vote Foundation with the development of the organisation’s website.  FedEx having implemented automated solutions that will allows visitors to fully utilize the service provided by the Overseas Vote foundation and FedEx Express.
