Alan Scott Finds Interest in Freightlink
Rail transport company Freightlink, the operator of rail freight services on Australia’s Adelaide to Darwin Railway is said have been the subject of some interest from Adelaide businessman Alan Scott.
As the owner of one of Australia’s Largest transportation company’s, Scott’s Transport, Alan Scott has reportedly expressed an interest in operating the Adelaide Darwin freight service, just as the loss making operation has been put up for sale by the company’s shareholders.
Commenting on the service, Alan Scott said that “I think it’s an investment, we’re the biggest users of it and Toll are next, so what do we do?” Scott also said that “You know we can’t afford to lose it, we can’t afford to have it closed down and the banks are starting to call up the money, so something has to be done.
Despite the losses being experienced on the service, only last week did Freightlink increase the amount of weekly freight services available on the Adelaide Darwin line, from five to six services per week, the company saying that the additional service was needed to accommodate the increasing demand for freight services into the Northern Territory.
