Aloha Cargo Operating Again

The Cargo arm of bankrupt passenger airline Aloha Airlines has announced today that the company will continue to provide air freight services within the Hawaiian Islands after receiving court approval to do so.

Aloha CargoAloha Cargo won the support of Bankruptcy Court Judge, Judge Lloyd King to keep its cargo concern operational, at least until May 14 when Seattle Based Saltchuck Resources is expected to receive approval for the $10.5 million dollar purchase of Aloha Cargo.

Qantas To Improve Air Freight Servicing Ability

The freight arm of Australia’s national carrier Qantas has announced a strategic investment by the company, one that is hoped will grow the airlines freight business.

The investment, the purchase of the Tullamarine based Jets Transport Express (Jets) firm, will see Qantas expand Qantasinto the air freight servicing arena, the move aimed at broadening Qantas’ air freight capability and improve the service for its air freight and cargo handling customers.

Executive General Manager of Qantas Freight Enterprises, Grant Fenn, speaking at the announcement of the purchase, said that “The acquisition of Jets will allow us for the first time to offer a truly seamless transfer between international and domestic operations,” and that “We will introduce track and trace capability and have the Jets fleet added to the airline reservation system to improve the booking process for customer airlines and freight forwarders.”
